This was our first harvest team, in 2002. On the far left (next to me, Hans de Roos) is Maria José, who worked for 12 years at our office before going to help her husband with his carpentry business. My wife Daida is the third from the right in the back row, and beside her, with the red jacket, is Montserrat Corominas, who has been helping us with household work since 1977. Her daughter Nuria is directly above me (back row, far left). The gardener, Pere Claparós, is leaning on the hood of the tractor. He retired in 2005. Most of the others come from the neighbouring village of La Bisbal and are first and third-generation immigrants from Andalusia, where olive-picking is in everyone's blood.
This is our core group in 2005. Sitting (from left to right): Fred Dwarshuis, who markets our products in the Netherlands, my wife Daida, Rina Tuynman, and myself. Standing (from left to right): our indispensable Yussufu Jangana from the Gambia, Rina's husband Fred Tuynman, a gifted sculptor who lives nearby, and---last but not least---our daughter Sandra, who takes care of sales in Ireland.
